All manuscripts received are subject to peer and/or single-blind review. The review takes approximately 2 weeks.
The manuscript is sent for review after an editor, in collaboration with a member of the Scientific Council, makes a primary check of the academic level, compliance with other requirements (including plagiarism), and scientific and/or philosophical relevance of the work. If the subject of the manuscript is in the field of one of the members of the Scientific Council, that member may make an independent review, and then a peer and/or single-blind evaluation of an independent external expert is used. If no member of the Scientific Council is an expert in the subject of the manuscript, an external reviewer who has the necessary expertise to evaluate the manuscript is used directly.
Reviewers must immediately declare any potential conflict of interest, and comply with the ethical guidelines of COPE, including confidentiality regarding the content of the manuscript and non-use for personal or professional gain. If the reviewer intends to involve other people in the evaluation, he/she will request the journal’s prior consent. At the reviewer’s request, their names may be associated with the manuscript, in order to properly acknowledge their efforts. Reviewers may choose to remain anonymous if they do not wish to sign the evaluation.
The reviewer will mainly check the manuscript for:
- originality and relevance of the work
- the scientific methods used and the research design
- the theory itself and the correct citation of sources
- the overall quality of the work, the completeness of the work, and the author’s conclusions
- the formality of the language used, including the abstract and keywords
The reviewer will finally make a recommendation based on the evaluation, according to which the manuscript can be published without changes, minor or major changes are needed, or the manuscript should be rejected.
Throughout the evaluation, the confidentiality of the reviewers and all other contributors to the evaluation, as well as the confidentiality of the author, will be respected.
Based on the review, and possibly other opinions, the editor decides whether to publish or reject the manuscript, informing the author of this decision, with reasons if necessary.
