Emilian M. Dobrescu

Date of birth: June 4, 1954

Education and training: in 1978 he graduated from the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Sociology, and in 1983 from the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, Faculty of Commerce; in 1994 he defended his doctoral thesis with a topic on economic integration, within the National Institute of Economic Research, Romanian Academy, under the scientific coordination of prof. dr. Sorica Sava.

Professional activity: between 1990-2019 he was scientific secretary of the Section of Economic Sciences, Law and Sociology of the Romanian Academy and, respectively, of the Commission on Economic History and History of Economic Thought of the Romanian Academy; between 1996-2019 he was scientific secretary of the same section of the Academy of Scientists of Romania; 2013-2019 – senior scientific researcher I at the Institute of National Economy of the Romanian Academy; since 2000 he is a university professor, and since 2010 – doctoral supervisor in the field of economics at the Department of Economic Sciences, Law and Sociology of the Doctoral School of the Romanian Academy;

Specializations: he has completed documentation, professional development and scientific collaboration internships in Bulgaria, China, Germany, Israel, Italy, Russia and Spain.

Scientific and publishing activity: he is the author and co-author of 172 specialized books, has participated in over 340 domestic and international scientific sessions and has published over 950 articles in economic publications, as well as in CNCSIS-listed scientific journals, indexed in BDI, including ISI (Clarivate Alalitics).

Scientific and professional notoriety: he is an honorary member of the Sonnenberg International Association, a full member of the Academy of Scientists, a member of the Romanian Association for the Club of Rome, etc.; member of scientific organizing committees of several conferences in the country and abroad, member of editorial committees of some scientifically rated economics and sociology journals in Romania, founder and co-organizer of the Academic School of Sociology in Romania, which reached its 13th edition in 2019, founder and co-organizer of the Gheorghe Lazăr Academic School (6th edition in 2022).
